ON THE ROAD IN AMERICA

“On the Road in America” is a twelve-part documentary/reality series about four young Arabs from the Middle East traveling across America with an American film crew. The series was created, executive produced and directed by Academy Award and Emmy nominated Jerome Gary.

THE STATE OF ASSYRIA

The Assyrian independence movement is a movement guided by the Assyrian people for independence in their historical homeland of northern Iraq, northeastern Syria, southeastern Turkey, and northwestern Iran. The City of Mosul had a sizable Assyrian presence prior to the takeover and forced expulsion of the Assyrian population by the Islamic State in 2014. Atrocities followed the ISIS invasion.

ON THE ROAD IN AMERICA 2

The second season of the hit series, On the Road in America, follows Lama, who grew up in Saudi Arabia, Sara from Lebanon, Bash from Egypt and a Palestinian refugee, Joseph, on a cross-country road trip to learn about American culture. Their journey begins in Los Angeles and continues to Washington DC via the Southern route; each episode provides context for exploring relevant issues such as capitalism, Western expansionism, religious diversity and racism. The cast sees and experiences what they have asked to see: Lama wants to meet the homeless and the poor, Bash wants to meet a Jewish family and party in Las Vegas, Sara wants to sing and perform on stage, and Joseph wants to meet the equivalents to the Palestinians in America – the Native Americans and the disenfranchised residents of urban projects.
The second season aired several times on MBC1 in March/April 2010 where it was the number two rated prime-time show with an average of 8.5 million viewers. The series is created, executive produced and directed by Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning producer Jerome Gary.

LIFE AFTER DEATH

“Life After Death” is a moving documentary that follows two Americans who lost a loved one on 9/11 as they travel to Amman and Madrid to meet with Arab and European victims of terror. Traveling with an international film crew, an American mother and daughter cross religious, cultural and language barriers to share their experiences of losing loved ones at the hands of terrorists. They also confront the changes in their lives, their relationship with each other and their world views. As they engage with family members of victims from the 11/9 Amman hotel bombings and the 3/11 Madrid train bombings, they uncover the universal human toll from extremist violence. Their collective messages of pain, endurance and hope, serve to repudiate and marginalize the use of terror.
